Piper Family Farm

  • Farmstead Camping

We welcome everyone to get a taste of the life on our farm that we value so much- individuals, couples, families, and other group travelers. We can put you to work if you’d like, but alternatively we have 1 campsites across our property that are available for rent. The Highland Hideaway and Painted Turtle Pond campsites are located on our cattle ranch in North Buckfield, and the River’s Retreat and Beech Bluff campsites are located at our riverside farmland in the center of Buckfield.

Our land abuts and flows into the Nezinscot River, which runs through the heart of our community. Nezinscot is an Abenaki word, which means β€œto decend upon,” or as many others interpret it, β€œa place to gather.” Much like the river they face, we find these spaces to be a great place to gather with friends, family, or even just you and your own thoughts.

  • Handmade Meals & Community Kitchen

Few things evoke the warm memories of home like the aroma of a freshly baked pie or a home-cooked meal. But if you’re like most folks today, the idea of carving the time out of your day to shop, prepare, cook, and clean is overwhelming. We get it!

That’s why we created Lynn’s Kitchen. Here she makes homestyle fruit and savory pies reminiscent of a by-gone era. Always made from scratch, Lynn’s pies are carefully hand-crafted with old fashioned goodness in every bite. Each pie is filled with farm-fresh fruits or our savory meat, and wrapped in a delicate, flaky pastry. No artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, hydrogenated oils, or trans fats.

Our kitchen is also available for rental for the artisans of our community who can’t furnish their own commercial kitchen. If you are interested in using our space to create, host a class, or whatever else you can think of- please reach out!

  • Grass-Fed + Finished Scottish Highland Cattle

For us, quality living is just as much about what you eat as it is where you live. Piper Family Farm’s ranch pastures are surrounded by grassy hillsides and pristine rivers - the perfect environment to raise our free range, 100% grass-fed cattle.

Piper Ranch Beef has been bred, born, and raised without growth hormone implants, digestive stimulants, or antibiotics since 1988. This is what allows us to offer only the highest quality, dry-aged natural beef.

It started in 1988

when Richard & Lynn Piper decided to act on the vision they created of their family's future; one rooted in their love for the natural world and desire to improve the health of their community. After their children moved out and started their own families, the Pipers bought some acreage in the small village of Buckfield, Maine.

In this quiet valley they would raise Highland Cattle, llamas, pigs, goats, chickens, and more- including their grandchildren. It is Richard and Lynn’s goal to pass on their dedication to healthy land and food to their grandchildren, community, and generations to come.
